Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) registered four strengths of daily oral Wegovy on Nov. 3. The tablets were approved for use with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, but were not yet available.

On Nov. 3, Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) registered Wegovy tablets in four strengths: 1.5, 4, 9 and 25 milligrams. They became Australia’s first tablet-form GLP-1 medicine approved specifically for weight management.1,2
The approval covered use alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. ABC reported the tablets were not yet available, pending final TGA reviews of packaging, production and retail pricing.1
Novo Nordisk aimed to make the tablets available in Australia by year-end, ABC reported. For trainers, it offers a pill option for clients who prefer not to inject; approved use includes physical activity.1
