IRONMAN Group adds Ha Long Bay half-distance triathlon

The IRONMAN Group announced the inaugural Ha Long Bay half-distance triathlon on Nov. 2, scheduling it for March 21, 2027. The race was set to include a 1.9-kilometer swim, a 90-kilometer bike leg and a 21.1-kilometer run.1

General registration was due to open Nov. 4, 2026, the announcement said. Organizers also planned a 5150 triathlon, sprint-distance race and IRONKIDS events for March 20, making a two-day event weekend.1

USA Triathlon will replace single-race state championships with a season-long series in 2027. Athletes must complete at least three qualifying races, including one in their home state, and maintain an active annual membership.
