Review finds pea protein supports muscle protein synthesis
A review in Nutrients assessed 33 human, animal and in-vitro studies, finding support for pea protein in muscle protein synthesis and resistance-training adaptations. It said the evidence did not establish equivalence to dairy proteins or an added benefit beyond training alone.

Nutrients published a narrative review on October 30 assessing pea protein in sports nutrition, exercise recovery and training adaptations. The review covered 33 studies: 24 in humans, eight in animals and one in vitro.1
It said isolated pea protein stimulated post-meal muscle protein synthesis under specific conditions, while resistance-training trials reported improvements in muscle mass and strength.1
The review said the evidence did not establish an added benefit over training alone or equivalence to dairy proteins.1
